Sugar free chocolate Brownies
I have been looking for a good recipe for chocolate brownies for some time.,
Via Twitter I found a recipe that looked promising so decided to give it a try. It has the added advantage that it also gluten free. I would recommend that you use either our Lite dark chocolate or Cavalier dark chocolate. We used a commercial stevia and erythritol blend as the sugar substitute. I was surprised that the recipe didn't use any flour but the ground almonds ensured that the cake was as moist as a brownie is supposed to be and the texture was light not stodgy.
I didn't have a square tin of the correct size but thought back to my school days and worked out that a standard round spongecake tin had the same area. This meant that my brownies were not the traditional square shape but hey! when something tastes as good as this, who cares.
In the past I've been disappointed by some sugar free cake recipes I've tried but this one is outstandingly good. I served it as a dessert with cream and fresh berries. The plates were empty in a flash and no one realised it was a sugar free, gluten free treat.
